Founded in
1980 by the international writers’ organization
PEN (Poets, Playwrights, Editors, Essayists, and Novelists)
and named in honor of novelist William Faulkner, The
PEN/Faulkner Award recognizes the most distinguished
piece of literary fiction as deemed by a jury of literary
peers, all fiction writers. Awarded annually, The PEN/Faulkner
has grown to become the largest juried award for fiction
presented in the United States. We have listed the winners
for the last ten years.
